Dear Colleagues and Friends,
One of the greatest learning laboratories we can enter is one that offers real world experiences. While academic and didactic training are essential to the learning process, the value of hands-on, practical knowledge is unparalleled.
At the College of Pharmacy, we are committed to providing students with unique and challenging opportunities that allow them to grow, prosper, and soar—well beyond the walls of a classroom and even outside their comfort zones. From clinical rotations…to community service…to collaborative simulations…to groundbreaking research…to attendance at professional conferences, along with close working relationships with faculty, preceptors, and alumni, our students are holistically prepared to enter the professional arena as pharmacists and pharmaceutical and biomedical scientists.
As you travel through the e-pages of this issue of UGA Script, you will discover how we are guiding our students towards their future endeavors. There are stories about collaborative training; engaging research; and faculty, alumni, and preceptors who are setting real world examples for students to emulate. And the best news is that you can play a key role in this career development.
This Thursday, March 27th, the College of Pharmacy will host Dawg Day of Giving, an opportunity for alumni, friends, and supporters to donate to the Student Travel Award Fund. You’ll open doors for students to attend key professional programs and conferences to meet professionals in the field, explore career paths, and represent the University of Georgia at the state and national levels. To learn more about Dawg Day of Giving, tune into my brief message.
For your continuous support and generosity—and on behalf of our faculty, staff, and most importantly our students—I thank you for supporting the real-world experiences provided at the UGA College of Pharmacy.
Always be learning!
