I can draw an analogy between my passion for gardening and our students at the College of Pharmacy. Our students come to us in a sundry of varieties – from differing backgrounds, interests, future plans, and even unique care instructions! Faculty, along with the support of staff, plant the seeds of knowledge and provide proper nurturing so that students grow in their pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences aspirations. Our curricula offer various mediums for proper growth, including superior laboratories for research and valuable experience learning opportunities. Donors and alumni assure that our students have the resources they need to prosper.
And then, as we just witnessed with the Class of 2023, we gain a sense of accomplishment. For under our care, our students were planted, nurtured, shaped, grew, and thrived. They graduated, thanks to the cultivation of many. They were a success!
In this spring 2023 issue of UGA Script, we highlight student successes, along with the successes of those who played a role in their growth. You’ll read about Cassidy Shin, who was a First Honors Graduate and Valedictorian for the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences program. You’ll be inspired by Dr. Sarah Adam, who was the student speaker at PharmD Commencement and President
of the Class of 2023. You’ll be enthused by the list of faculty and staff awards, including Dr. Ashley Hannings '11, who was our PharmD Teacher of the Year, and Dr. Somanath Shenoy
, who received the College’s Undergraduate/ Graduate/ Certificate Teacher of the Year award and appointed the inaugural Kenneth L. Waters Pharmacy Professor. Finally, donor and alumni stories, such as the one penned by Don Oliver ’62, will simply touch you. Rest assured, there’s much more to read and enjoy in these pages of UGA Script.
May you always be learning, growing, and thriving –
and supporting others to do the same.
