Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources
A BIG THANK YOU to Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources for hosting an educational and exciting Team Stewardship at Flinchum’s Phoenix last month! We had the opportunity to hear about the great work Warnell is doing from several of their faculty members, including Dr. Robert Bringolf (Associate Dean for Academic Affairs), Joe Parsons (Director of the Harley Langdale, Jr. Center for Forest Business), and Dr. Jay Shelton (Associate Professor). The Ernest E. Provost Scholarship Recipient, Seamus O’Brien, shared how scholarships are a lifeline for students staying in college and how grateful he is for the scholarship he received. Team Stewardship ended with a tour of the Whitehall Deer Research Facility and the Aquatic Toxicology Lab.
The tour allowed us to examine various fish and fresh water mussels and showed us how Warnell has been instrumental in studying deer’s reproductive processes and behaviors, visual and hearing capabilities, and population social structure.

Farewell, Tony!
To bid Tony farewell at his final Team Stewardship, we surprised him with a few of his favorite things: burgers, Coke Zero, and “Little Tony” snack cakes! Stewies from all across campus showered him with cards and hand-written notes, expressing their gratitude for his service at UGA. We will miss you dearly, Tony Stringer! |

New Process: Endowment Donor Statements and Stewardship Recipients
Over the last few months, our office has worked closely with Jennifer Hancock, Brooks McCommons, and Kathy Bangle to reevaluate the way we collect biographies from donors as they sign fund agreements. Our goal is to make collecting donor statements easier and more beneficial for donors, development officers, and Stewies. As a result, we have now started to do the following: -
When a new fund is setup, Caitlin will reach out to the Development Officer/Gift Contact to confirm the formal fund name used for stewardship pieces and to confirm the founding donor(s) as stewardship representatives. No response will assume that everything is correct.
-
Once the fund agreement has been signed, the Endowment Donor Statement form will be sent to the stewardship representative(s) through DocuSign. The donor will be automatically reminded through DocuSign to complete the form 14 days after they receive it, and every 21 days until 60 days. Then, it expires. Copies of the completed document will be automatically sent to the Development Officer/Gift Contact, DARCOMM, and Donor Relations. It will also be saved in GAIL on the constituent page as an interaction and on the fund page as documentation.
Please let Caitlin know as soon as the fund agreement is signed if you prefer that your donor does not receive the Endowment Donor Statement form via DocuSign.

Mailed: Faculty Gratitude Reports
Messages of thanks from 124 faculty reached the mailboxes of 138 donors in September! You can view the mailing list here. We already have plans for the 2023 report and look forward to experimenting with a new concept that will be even more impactful! For more information, reach out to Caitlin Lacey. |
FY22 Financial Endowment Reports
3,108 donors are set to receive financial endowment reports next week. We’re excited to roll out a new design this year while continuing to include the same, important information. Thank you to UGA Foundation, Advancement Services, DARCOMM, and development officers in schools, colleges, and units for this wildly collaborative and complex mailing. We are able to steward 3,171 funds through personalized printed reports with fund-specific information, and we couldn't do it without you! For more information, reach out to Caitlin Lacey. |
Scholarship Thank You Notes
FY22 Spring and Summer thank you notes were mailed to 75 constituents for College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Public Health, and SPIA Study Abroad funds. Interactions and Communication Codes will be added to records in the next two weeks. Scholarship Gratitude Reports will be mailed in three rounds throughout FY23. We are currently collecting thank you messages for Fall 2022 reports that will be mailed this Spring. Students who participate will receive a Dawg Gone Grateful keychain.

Coming Soon: Changes to Gratitude Reports
Starting in FY24, Donor Relations will begin pulling scholarship recipient information directly from the Office of Student Financial Aid’s awarding system. Lauren will be adding donor information to this system, which will help streamline the process of pulling and contacting recipients. A review of the funds that are currently set up as well as the donor information that will be added to the system will be shared with Stewies in the Spring. A yearly review for additions and removals from the system will occur, similar to the endowment report process.

Ed Hoard First Tee Scholarship Golf Tournament
The 10th anniversary of the Ed Hoard First Tee Memorial Golf Tournament was held at the end of October and raised over $50,000 in support of the Hoard First Tee Scholarship. The tournament has grown exponentially in both monetary support and engagement from donors over the last few years. The scholarship fund has grown from supporting one scholar at $1,000 to supporting four scholars at $3,000, with a planned increase to $4,000 per recipient in the next year. A graduate scholarship has also been created to support undergraduate recipients that continue at UGA for their graduate degree.
