Stewardship Spotlight

Stewies Celebrate Valentine's Day Campus-Wide!

Terry College of Business

As a thank you to faculty and staff donors for their “sweet support,” Terry delivered branded cookies made by Julie Bean’s Bakeshop and a thank you note from Dean Ayers to all faculty and staff donors that gave during the 2022 calendar year.

For more information, reach out to Catherine Henry.

College of Engineering

The College of Engineering commissioned a series of three paintings by artist Paige Adair (BFA ’16) exclusively for donors and friends. This limited edition print is the third and final painting in the series and was sent to all faculty and staff donors along with “bundtlet towers” from Nothing Bundt Cakes. The first two prints were sent in the previous two years and were used as faculty/staff stewardship gifts as well. The original paintings by Paige are now showcased in the Driftmier Engineering Center. The Engineering development team hand-delivered the gifts to faculty/staff donors on Valentine’s Day.

For more information, reach out to Kim Brown.

College of Veterinary Medicine

A punny Valentine email from the College of Veterinary Medicine team was sent to their FY23 donors, Heritage Society members, and endowment donors.

For more information, reach out to Abby Bryant.

Franklin College of Arts and Sciences

The development team at Franklin mailed Valentine’s Day cards to any UGA faculty or staff member who donated to the Franklin College since the previous Valentine’s Day. The inside of the card included a voucher to Jittery Joe’s Coffee. Mary Alston Killen started this initiative in 2016 and looks forward to it every year. This piece of stewardship is important to their entire team as they know there are so many deserving areas around campus where faculty/staff can choose to give philanthropically, and they are so grateful these donors choose to support the arts and sciences.

For more information, reach out to Mary Alston Killen.

Student Affairs

The Student Affairs development team delivered backpacks on Valentine’s Day to all faculty and staff donors currently on campus who made a gift to any designation in Student Affairs in FY22.

Presentation Notes

Dawg Day of Giving

Mark your calendars! Dawg Day of Giving will take place on Thursday, March 30th. Dawg Day of Giving is a unified fundraising effort calling on the University of Georgia community to elevate private support. Anyone can participate and all gifts count–regardless of amount or designation. This year, Annual Giving has set a goal of 10,000 gifts!

Sherry Abrams shared with Team Stewardship the timeline of events leading up to Dawg Day of Giving:

  • Save the Date Phase (December – Early March)
  • Early Giving Phase (March 23-29)
  • Dawg Day of Giving (March 30)
  • Stewardship Phase (Begins March 31st)

Giving Day will be busy and full of energy with five email blasts, a high social media presence, Engagement Center text messaging, a Student Ambassador phone-a-thon, and stewardship. Stewardship emails will be sent to donors on March 31st, and a mailed stewardship piece will reach their mailboxes in April. Stewies can make the day a success by working with your unit to strengthen the Dawg Day of Giving presence on campus. Annual Giving will supply everything you need to set up a table at your school or college to promote the day, including pom-poms, stickers, t-shirts for volunteers, beads, buttons, yard signs, and photo props. There will also be an on-campus event hosted by Student Alumni Council at Tate Plaza from 10:30 AM-3 PM to educate students about philanthropy at UGA and give them an opportunity to make a gift.

Annual Giving has prepared a Digital Toolkit that includes a comprehensive collection of everything you need for a successful Dawg Day of Giving. The toolkit includes a new style guide, new promo mark, new graphics and new messaging. You can access the link to the toolkit via the button below.

Dawg Day of Gratitude

We are excited to announce that Dawg Day of Gratitude (formerly Thank a Donor Day) will be held on Thursday, April 13th at Tate Plaza! Dawg Day of Gratitude is a university-wide celebration of donor support and an opportunity for students to thank our donors and learn about the impact of private giving on their education.

Students will have the opportunity to complete three stations at Dawg Day of Gratitude:

  1. Notecard Station: write a thank you note to a donor
  2. Social Media Station: scan a QR code to follow UGA Alumni accounts on social media
  3. Poster-making + Photo Station: create a message of gratitude on a poster, then jump in a photo booth for a quick picture

Prizes are given to students based on the number of stations they complete and include a sticker sheet, koozie and t-shirt.

New this year – we are rolling out Dawg Day of Gratitude across campus! Stewies are welcome to set up their own table at their school or college. Donor Relations will provide registration cards, paw print stickers for completed stations, notecards, pens, and a prize for students who have completed their notecard. Students can then head over to Tate Plaza to complete the last two stations to earn more prizes.

Stewardship Reporting

FY23 Faculty Gratitude Reports

141 chairs and professors provided a message of gratitude for the fund that supports their teaching and research! This year, we are moving the gratitude reports to a new format. The messages of thanks will be displayed in a booklet so that donors can see the broader impact of faculty support across campus in addition to their individual giving. We are excited about the changes and can’t wait to share a sneak peek with you soon.
