Odum School of Ecology
A big THANK YOU to the Odum School of Ecology for hosting an eco-friendly Team Stewardship meeting “fluttering” with great stewardship information! Melissa Lee, Development Coordinator with the Odum School of Ecology,
took us on a journey through time with her engaging presentation on the School of Ecology's history, starting with Eugene Odum’s establishment of the Institute of Ecology and extending to Ecology’s thriving community of undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, and faculty. Melissa highlighted the Ecology stewardship efforts, which showcased significant growth over the past year, and events organized by the Odum School of Ecology for top-tier donors. The meeting ended on a special note with a tour of the facility that studies monarch butterflies and their parasites. For more details on Ecology’s stewardship matrix, events, and other highlights, please refer to the Team Stewardship PowerPoint presentation.

DonorCentrics Review
Senior Director of Annual Giving, Sherry Abrams, gave an intriguing presentation that focused on Quantitative vs Qualitative Data, giving us a snapshot of giving trends over the past fiscal year. Statistics on lapsed donors, first time donors, and donor loyalty were presented, as well as Gen Z donor preferences. Detailed trend graphs and more can be found in the May Team Stewardship PowerPoint presentation.
For more information on DonorCentrics, reach out to Sherry Abrams. Summer Stewardship Meetings
Be on the lookout for Stewardship meetings this summer. Daynes Parker will be in touch to schedule meetings with stewardship staff across campus to learn about how you are acknowledging your donors and discuss ways that our team can support you.

The Office of Instruction will transition all scholarship review and awarding to the Office of Student Financial Aid beginning on July 1st. The Office of Student Financial Aid will now process and administer scholarship funds previously housed within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The consolidation of scholarships into one office will allow for a more efficient accounting of all UGA Foundation funds, college/department scholarships and institutional waivers. This process will also streamline communication for students who receive central scholarship support. This transition will not change the distinction between merit-based and need-based scholarships or their respective selection criteria, only the department in which the funds are administered.

Endowment Reports Are Going Digital!
Donor Relations is excited to announce that endowment reports will be transitioning from print to digital format. We will be collaborating with ODDER to send ThankView-style digital financial reports to stewardship recipients later this fall. We are in the beginning phase of this major project, so please be on the lookout for more details. By going digital, we can offer several benefits, including: - Streamlined operations: Simplified and more efficient reporting processes.
- Enhanced data accuracy: Improved precision in the information provided.
- Cost reduction: Lower costs associated with printing and mailing.
-
Improved customization and security: Tailored reports with increased security measures.
- Better data tracking: Enhanced ability to track and manage report data.
- Increased donor engagement: More interactive and personalized communication.

Scholarship Steering Committee Update
Since last November, Jordan Dotson and Caitlin Lacey have been meeting monthly with a group of colleagues from different areas of campus to discuss all things scholarships. Through these meetings, the idea of a “scholarship playbook” was born. The intention is for the playbook to be a guide of best practices for the scholarship process that you can easily turn to for guidance. The playbook will cover the basics in areas such as the awarding timeline, fund agreement guidelines, consent forms, stewardship, etc. This playbook will hopefully be useful for Stewies, business managers, development officers, and anyone else involved in the scholarship process. The playbook is currently in the works and will be available for use this fall. Stay tuned for more information!

Dawg Day of Gratitude
This year, in addition to the Tate Plaza location, there will be a new South Campus location! Each location will be setup on a smaller scale with fewer stations. The goal is to focus more on Thank You notes & education on private giving. There will also be several satellite locations across campus as well as more building signage.
Please email a list of named spaces in your school, college, or unit that you would like to highlight with a Donor Funded decal to Katie Snipes.
