A letter from Dean Nuss, building rendering, news stories and more.

The Scope

Dear School of Medicine donors,

I am thrilled to begin this update with some exciting news: we have surpassed our $50 million private fundraising goal for the new Medical Education and Research Building. This support matches the generous $50 million allocation from the Georgia General Assembly. It is difficult for me to express in words just how grateful we are to our donors, the Georgia legislators, the UGA Research Foundation and the UGA Foundation.

Our fundraising focus has now shifted to scholarships. Having strong student financial aid to offer will significantly enhance our efforts to bring an exceptional first class to Athens. Because although we are part of an esteemed university, we do not have a long history to bolster our reputation. But by helping to offset the costs of a medical degree, we can incentivize the best medical students to become Bulldogs.

And there’s never been a better time to create that scholarship support than right now: matching funds have been made available for a limited time to double the impact of gifts that create School of Medicine scholarships.

Thank you again for your commitment to the School of Medicine!
