Hello, team!
March was another busy month for the division from AdvanceUGA to Georgia Women Give Spring Weekend to Senior Signature. Thanks to everyone who played a role in these important initiatives, and a special congratulations to our DARing to Level Up Award winners, Sarah Baines, William Draper, Jeff Garmon, Michelle Jones, Shivanee Patel and Daryn Zongrone.
I'd also like to congratulate everyone on another record-breaking Dawg Day of Giving and thank you for your hard work! We reached 13,094 gifts for a total of $8.5 million — an achievement not possible without such a collaborative approach focused on impact. I enjoyed stopping by and seeing so many schools and colleges hosting campus activities to elevate the day. Thank you!
We're officially in the last quarter of the fiscal year, and I look forward to seeing our continued hard work and collaboration as we work towards reaching our $300 million goal again this year. I want to express my sincere gratitude and thanks for your dedication and commitment. Please continue to think about how we can best support one another during this time, and let me know if I can do anything for you or your team. |

Leandra Nessel and Christina Varnedoe
have been working with a young alumni couple on a gift of $25,000 to name a group study room in the Miller Learning Center in honor of their family, celebrating the birth of their first child earlier this year. The couple joined the Libraries Board of Visitors in 2024 but have been connected to UGA for many years through their families. The husband’s grandmother was the second person to serve as chair of the Libraries Board, and his parents have also served as members of the Board of Visitors. His parents have an existing named group study room in the Miller Learning Center and a gallery in the Special Collections Library Building, and his grandparents have another study room in the Miller Learning Center that honors three generations of the family. Across campus, members of the family have supported the Honors College, the State Botanical Garden, the Center for Research and Education at Wormsloe, the School of Medicine, and more. This is a strong example of cross-unit collaboration and multigenerational philanthropy—continuing a meaningful legacy while passing the torch to the next generation.

Vinaya Birajdar represented DAR at the ITMF/UGAnet AI Symposium at the Georgia Center last month. The symposium focused on practical applications of AI in higher education as well as governance, ethics and security considerations. Thank you for sharing your perspective and insights with the attendees and representing DAR so well! |
Jill recently stopped by the Engagement Center to meet some of the student ambassadors and get everyone pumped up for Dawg Day of Giving. Pictured above are Graham Lawson, Tucker Robbins and Urja Davesar. It's always great talking to and learning about our fabulous UGA students! |
