In the final installment of a series for Poets & Quants, UGA Full-time MBA Director Jason Matthews discussed the strategic decision to maintain cohorts of between 80 and 100 students. “We’ve found our sweet spot,” Matthews told the publication. “I don’t have marching orders to grow the program or shrink it.” Matthews explained that focusing on a smaller cohort allows the program to prioritize personalized career development and hands-on experience with real-world clients—factors that, alongside core business knowledge, are key to getting Georgia MBAs hired.

Looking back, 2025 saw fewer large-scale natural disasters impacting the U.S. While a year with fewer disasters is a positive for insurers, homeowners should not expect those savings to be passed on to them, said professor emeritus Rob Hoyt, the Terry College Dudley L. Moore, Jr. Chair of Insurance. Companies are still recovering from several years of record-breaking losses. “We’re talking about a better-than-typical year in recent times,” Hoyt told NPR News. “But that should be interpreted as being amongst a very troubling set of years from a catastrophic loss perspective.”
