“I view this as a good-news forecast for the state of Georgia,” Terry College Dean Ben Ayers told The Augusta Chronicle and crowds across the state during the Terry College of Business 2025 Economic Outlook tour. “We are predicting a slowdown, but not much, and we’re expecting a growth rate that will continue to be above our long-term trend rate in the state of Georgia.” In addition to Augusta, Ayers spoke to audiences in Albany, Columbus, Savannah, and Macon, part of the college’s 42nd annual Economic Outlook series.
Early in January, the U.S. Department of the Treasury released a report detailing how insurance is becoming more difficult to find and afford for American homeowners. Risk management professor Marc Ragin, who studies how shifting weather patterns have stressed insurance markets, told Sinclair Broadcasting that his first-of-its-kind study shows a wide range of property owners under stress. “I think it helps regulators understand where those pinch points are and where those struggles are.”
