In 1977, Jack Gibson graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia with a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance, followed by his MBA in 1979. Upon graduation, he had three job offers, all in Dallas, TX. He accepted a position with a risk management consulting firm and worked with governmental, banking, and construction clients for the next three years. In 1982 he left consulting to begin his career with International Risk Management Institute (IRMI) and built it into a leading information and education provider for the property and casualty insurance industry. In 2011 he led IRMI’s acquisition of WebCE which is now the dominant provider of continuing education for the insurance industry. He now serves as President and CEO of IRMI and CEO of WebCE.
Debbie was raised in Kansas City, MO, and the two were introduced by mutual friends. They love travel, scuba diving, and photography. During their travels they have managed to photograph everything from great white sharks to World War II shipwrecks to ghost pipefish and pigmy seahorses.
The Gibsons' legacy through faculty support is a lasting reminder of their commitment to the future of insurance education. In July 2010, the Gibsons set up a charitable gift trust to benefit the Terry College of Business, establishing the Gibson Distinguished Chair in Risk Management as well as benefitting the fund established in the name of E.J. Leverett, founder of the UGA Risk Management and Insurance Program and Jack’s mentor. In addition to this wonderful estate gift, Jack and Debbie contribute to Terry College and Risk Management annually and support our #1 RMI Department by graciously giving their time serving on the RMI Advisory Board. Jack and Debbie are valued members of the Terry College Pinnacle Society. We are thankful for their partnership and dedication to the success of the Terry College.

Jayan Patel (BBA '24) is a senior finance major from Marietta, Georgia and is a student equipment manager for the Georgia Football team. Patel's love for football started at a young age as his mother and uncle both worked for Georgia's program. Patel works to ensure players can focus on the game and not their equipment and laundry. Through his involvement with the team, Patel has constantly networked and wants to pursue a career in sports management at the collegiate or professional level. In addition to equipment management, Patel has worked in the ticketing office, the business office, operations, and even a little with coaches, and is consistently making the Dean's list. Working for the program has shown Patel that "long hours at football during the school year while also staying on top of schoolwork and making good grades" is possible!
