For Scott and Linda Sink, being a bulldog is a family tradition. Scott’s father, Dr. Jack Merritt Sink, brought their family to Athens. He was a professor in rehabilitation counseling at UGA for almost 20 years. Carrying on his father’s connection with UGA, Scott earned a degree in risk management and insurance from the Terry College in 1984. Both of Scott and Linda’s children are UGA graduates, as well as their spouses. Their daughter, Brittany Sink Chitwood (BBA’14, accounting; MAcc ’15) and son-in-law Paul Chitwood (BBA ’14, accounting, finance, and risk management) were both active in the Institute for Leadership Advancement while students at the Terry College. The Sink’s son, Taylor Sink (BBA’18, risk management and insurance) also married a UGA graduate, Anna Fenstermaker (BSED ’17, exercise and sports science).
Throughout his career, Scott has provided risk management consulting and insurance brokerage services to large electric, gas, and integrated energy companies. Since joining McGriff, Seibels & Williams in 1994, he has been instrumental in developing one of the largest energy/utility practice groups in the United States. As senior executive vice president, he serves as the practice leader for the energy/utility division.
In 2012, Scott was named Terry College’s Risk Management Alumnus of the Year mirroring his 1984 nomination of Outstanding Student in Risk Management & Insurance. Scott serves as an Emeritus member on the Terry College Alumni Board. Scott and Linda Sink are valued partners at the Terry College and across the UGA campus as members of UGA’s 1785 Society, the Athletic Association’s Silver Circle, and the Terry College Shareholders’ Society. In 2022, the Sinks established the Scott and Linda Sink RMI Study Abroad endowment at the Terry College. Their continued investment in the future of the Terry College and the University of Georgia is greatly appreciated.

Each week, we feature an Alum of the Day, where alumni can share about their career, company, activities they enjoy in their downtime, favorite Georgia memories, and how they choose to give back to their community. In addition to highlighting successful alumni, the goal of the Alum of the Day series is to show current Terry students the types of career opportunities that exist and give them great contacts in their industry. Students are encouraged to reach out to each Alum of the Day to connect.
Be sure to check out @terryalumni on Facebook and Instagram each Wednesday to see which alum is next! |
