C. HERMAN TERRY RISK MANAGEMENT AND INSURANCE PROGRAM

The Terry College of Business proudly announces the naming of the C. Herman Terry Risk Management and Insurance Program, thanks to a transformative $15 million endowment from the Terry Family Foundation. This historic gift marks a major milestone for a pioneering program that has long led the nation in its field. UGA President Jere Morehead noted that the endowment will elevate the program from the top in the U.S. to one of the best in the world. With enhanced faculty support, expanded course offerings, and more hands-on learning opportunities, the program is well-positioned for global impact. Established in 1965 by professor E.J. Leverett, the RMI program has grown into the largest undergraduate program of its kind. For the past five years, it has held the No. 1 national ranking from U.S. News & World Report.

EXCELLENCE UNLEASHED AT THE 2025 ALUMNI AWARDS & GALA

The Terry College gathered on Saturday, April 26 for the 2025 Alumni Awards & Gala at the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta, to recognize Distinguished Alumni Award recipients Lisa Laube (BBA '85) and Cliff McCurry (BBA '71), and Outstanding Young Alumni Award recipient Morgan Moore (BBA '13). A night to remember, alumni and friends came together to celebrate and honor the ongoing impact of the Terry College community. The evening was filled with excitement and energy — from a dazzling jewelry cleaning station and the chance to take home a pair of diamond earrings courtesy of Solomon Brothers, to an engaging live auction and a vibrant silent auction supporting scholarships and student programs. In total, $672,500 was raised through corporate sponsorships, benefitting the Terry College Excellence Fund and helping to advance the College’s mission of excellence in business education. The celebration didn’t end there — guests danced the night away at the after party with the high-energy sounds of the Atlanta Party Band. A special thank you to our Presenting sponsor, Bay Point, and to all who made this unforgettable evening possible. Your generosity continues to shape the future of Terry students.

The Terry College Student of the Year Award was established by Emeritus Members of the Alumni Board to honor a current senior who best exemplifies Terry College ideals and demonstrates the skills and commitment required to succeed in college, business and life.

This year's winner, Alex Womack (BBA '25) (middle), was announced at the annual Terry College Honors Day ceremony on April 3 at the UGA Chapel. Womack demonstrated his commitment to service by spending much of his college career as an assistant scoutmaster, a peer tutor for the UGA Office For Student Success and Achievement, and as director for case administration for the University Judiciary. Womack served as president of the Atlas Business Society and president of the Chess Dawgs. He also was a project leader with Terry Student Consulting and as a management consulting member for the Corsair Society. In addition to being an Eagle Scout, he was a UGA Presidential Scholar and a Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholar. He interned with the management consulting group GovStrive and at the housing nonprofit Live Forward. After graduation, Womack will join McKinsey & Company in Atlanta before attending Harvard Law School in 2027 through a deferred enrollment program.

Five finalists were selected based on academics, financial responsibility, and community and campus leadership. This year's honorees are Whit Thoms, Ethan Craig, Madeline Pierce, and Mattie Garrett (left to right).

Briggs Settlemier (BBA ‘25) and Dimitri Nakis (BBA ‘25), played a pivotal role in organizing the 2025 Jam for Cam festival, created in memory of their late friend Cameron Fearon. After volunteering for several years, the two roommates stepped up to lead when the festival faced major challenges, including losing its long-time venue and struggling to book talent. Instead of scaling back, Settlemier and Nakis saw the adversity as a chance to elevate the festival to new heights. Their efforts helped draw over 15,000 attendees to downtown Athens, making it the most successful Jam for Cam to date. The event raised more than $520,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation and Camp Carolina, honoring Cameron’s legacy through music and philanthropy. Thanks to their leadership and vision, the festival has become a powerful tribute and a major force for cancer research.
