With four generations of Bulldogs, UGA is an anchor for the families of John Ludwig (BBA '61) and Carter Hopkins (BBA '62). John and Carter are first cousins who both graduated with bachelor’s degrees from Terry. Since then, they have shared their fondness for UGA by giving back in a variety of ways. Both have stayed connected by participating on alumni boards, creating scholarships, and supporting building projects.
In 2013, a close friend of John and Carter partnered with UGA to launch the Student Veterans Resource Center. Given the miliary heritage shared by John and Carter’s families, this initiative became a philanthropic priority for the two families. John was especially proud of the opportunity to honor his father and brother for their service in the Army.
Realizing there was a need for veteran support on the campus of UGA the Ludwig and Hopkins families joined forces, made the initial contribution needed to endow a scholarship fund, and are honored to share the creation of the Veterans Appreciation Scholarship Fund. John and Carter are excited to encourage anyone to support this fund at any amount, and to watch the valuable impact this scholarship will have for our UGA servicemen and women.
As the Ludwig and Hopkins families prepare to celebrate their 100-year milestone partnership with UGA, we are grateful for all the support they have provided to the Terry College of Business. If you are interested in supporting this fund, please visit Veterans Appreciation Scholarship. |
