Shep Rose graduated in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. His passion for entrepreneurship has led him to many opportunities to connect with Terry students. Shep shares with students the successes and failures he has experienced as an entrepreneur. In 2021, Shep created a study abroad scholarship to give students the same amazing experience he had while traveling in college. The scholarship is named in memory of an adventurous friend, Josh Adams, who lost his battle with cancer. Recently, Shep received an update from his scholarship recipient, who relayed that she had an incredible experience participating in the Munich and Berlin Business in Germany program, and that she was so grateful for the opportunity. Shep greatly enjoys his time in Athens, and he gets back this way often to engage with students and cheer on the Dawgs!

For lifelong Athens resident Trent Nesbit
(BBA '24), attending the University of Georgia was a chance to experience a new side of his hometown. UGA provided the opportunity to meet students from around the state and nation. Nesbit gave the University of Georgia 2024 Commencement speech, having been selected by his peers. Nesbit knows the best is yet to come, and that's one of the main messages in his Commencement speech. He wants his peers to take everything they learned on campus to pursue bigger and brighter futures. Nesbit shared "the theme of my speech is to not let college be the best four years of your life. I feel very strongly about always striving for more, and that’s what UGA has equipped us to do.” Nesbit studied economics and sport management while working as a video assistant for UGA Athletics, as well as being involved with Wesley, a student-led Christian ministry on campus, and studying abroad with Real Madrid. The best is yet to come for Trent Nesbit.
