TERRY ALUMNI RECEIVE BLUE KEY SERVICE AWARD |

The Blue Key Service Award is presented to distinguished individuals who have made a major contribution to the University, the state and nation. Three alumni received the 2024 Blue Key Service Award at the November banquet, including Andrew Dill (BBA '06), director of U.S. government relations for Lockheed Martin; Sam Holmes (BBA '87), vice chairman of CBRE; and Bonney Shuman (BBA '80), retired CEO of Stratix Corporation. The Blue Key Honor Society is a national organization whose members are committed to leadership in student life, high scholastic achievement, service to others and citizenship. Established in 1924 at the University of Florida, the organization’s third chapter was established at the University of Georgia in 1926.

JONES NAMED MANAGING PARTNER |

Frazier & Deeter (FD) has announced Jeremy Jones (BBA '97) as its Incoming Managing Partner, set to assume the role in January 2026. Jones, who joined FD in 2001, currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Audit Partner. He will succeed Seth McDaniel, who has led the firm for 15 years, overseeing significant expansion and sustained revenue growth. With over 25 years of public accounting experience, Jones has been instrumental in the firm's operational growth and has developed a robust client portfolio across multiple industries. He is recognized for his expertise in internal controls, financial reporting, and trend analysis. Jones is also active in professional and civic organizations, including the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

BURDETTE NAMED HAVERTYS' CEO |

Steve Burdette (BBA '83) will become Havertys' CEO on January 1, 2025, while continuing in his role as president and joining the board of directors. With Havertys since 1983, Burdette has gained extensive experience in store management, distribution, operations, merchandising, and marketing. Appointed president in 2021, he has played a key role in driving the company’s strategy and growth. This leadership transition is part of a strategic plan to position Havertys for continued success. As a top 100 furniture retailer with a strong market presence, Havertys looks forward to building on its legacy with Burdette at the helm.

Congratulations to the 51 Terry Alumni named to the 2025 Bulldog 100 list. Bulldog 100 celebrates the top 100 fastest-growing organizations owned or led by UGA alumni. Over the years, Angel Oak Capital Advisors has been a valued partner of the Terry College, providing internship opportunities, volunteering as judges for the Stock Pitch Competition, and participating as speakers within the Finance Department.
Michael Fierman, Managing Partner and Co-CEO of Angel Oak Capital Advisors, has long been an advocate for Terry. He has contributed to the Tel Aviv Study Abroad program, served on the Terry Dean’s Advisory Council, and helped to strengthen the college’s endowment through the creation of the Michael and Caroline Fierman Shareholder Fund. Elsewhere on campus, Michael established the Michael and Caroline Fierman Professorship in Public and International Affairs, further enhancing the university’s faculty support.
Recently, Angel Oak Capital Advisors became the Premier Partner for the Terry College Bond Student Managed Investment Fund (Bond-SMIF), enabling the Finance Department to begin recruiting for the inaugural class of student investors.
With additional seed funding from Bay Point Advisors, Terry is excited to launch this new program, which, combined with a robust curriculum, will uniquely position students as future leaders in the finance industry. The initiative also helps distinguish Terry as one of the few institutions offering such a program across the country. Michael and Angel Oak Capital Advisors are valued partners dedicated to ensuring Terry students have real-world opportunities leading to successful, impact-driven careers.

The December Alumni of the Day were Guy Millner and Dustin Osborne. Millner graduated in 1988 with a BBA in Marketing and is the Senior Army Instructor at Central Gwinnett High School. Osborne graduated in 2013 with a BBA in Economics and is a Partner at Goldberg Segalla, LLP.

Join speaker Amy Ohde (MBA '02), Executive Director of Launch Support, Chick-fil-A, for the first MBA Lunch & Learn of 2025 on January 16, 2025. Ohde has spent much of her career ensuring Chick-fil-A’s millions of customers get the Chick-fil-A experience they expect and the chain’s independent operators are as successful as possible. Launch support is responsible for Chick-fil-A’s Leadership Development Program, leading company-operated restaurants and launching domestic and international Chick-fil-A locations.

Don't miss your opportunity to hear from Shyam Reddy (JD '00), President and CEO of BlueLinx, at next month's Terry Third Thursday presentation. Reddy joined BlueLinx in 2015, previously serving as senior vice president, chief legal and sustainability officer and corporate secretary, responsible for the legal, risk management and ESG functions. Reddy started his career in private practice in the Atlanta office of Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton, then served a four-year term as regional administrator of the Southeast Sunbelt Region of the U.S. General Services Administration. Reddy received his bachelor’s degree in political science and his master’s degree in public health from Emory University. He earned a law degree from the University of Georgia in 2000. Leadership Dawgs is a leadership development program, available only to UGA Alumni, that teaches personal and professional leadership. The program, which includes two onsite weekends at the Terry Executive Education Center in Atlanta, challenges UGA alums to unlock their potential to Maximize, Optimize, Cultivate and Create Impact. Participants in the Leadership Dawgs program are selected from nominations by UGA staff and alumni who recognize their leadership abilities.
