| Bob and Elisha Finney are valued members of the Terry community who graduated with bachelor’s degrees in risk management and insurance in 1979 and 1983, respectively. Since then, the couple has made it a priority to stay involved with their alma mater.
Both first-generation college students with a heart for removing barriers, the Finneys are deeply dedicated to helping make educational opportunities possible for deserving students and strengthening connections between students, alumni and the Terry community. Over the years, the Finneys established two Georgia Commitment Scholarships, named a classroom in Amos Hall and included UGA in their estate plans. They have even supported programs outside of Terry, such as Let The Big Dawgs Eat, an initiative that supports those students experiencing food insecurities. Additionally, while living on the opposite coast, they championed the Building Terry campaign for Northern California by hosting receptions, reaching out to alums and creating a match opportunity to encourage more young alumni to support the initiative. Their dedication is enduring and commendable.
Elisha never hesitates to get involved. She was named Alumni of the Year in 2005 by Terry’s Risk Management and Insurance Department and received the 2015 Terry Distinguished Alumni Award. She served as a member of the Terry Dean’s Advisory Council from 2010–2020 and currently serves on the UGA Foundation Board of Trustees.
In 2016, Elisha was honored to be one of the Terry Women’s Initiative Circle of Donors. She hopes to inspire and encourage members to achieve their full potential. This group has helped establish a platform that inspires confidence and provides the necessary resources for students, especially women, to succeed in both their undergraduate and professional pursuits.
The Finneys’ continued investment in the future of the Terry College and the University of Georgia is greatly appreciated. |
