Nikki Lankford (BBA '04) was appointed General Manager of Middle Market Field Underwriting at Liberty Mutual Insurance, responsible for driving underwriting execution and alignment across Middle Market. Lankford plays a critical role in helping Liberty become a consistent, easy-to-do-business. Lankford will help expand Liberty’s commitment to industry expertise to better meet the needs of their Middle Market clients, agents and brokers. Lankford makes it back to Athens regularly as a guest speaker in Tom Edmund’s RMIN 4000 class and enjoys networking with his students.

TERRY ALUMNI MAKE FORBES LOCAL 30 UNDER 30 CLASS |

Brandon Mintz (BBA '16), founder of Bitcoin Depot, was named to the Atlanta 30 Under 30 Local Class of 2023. Bitcoin Depot was founded in 2016, a crypto kiosk company with 7,000 Bitcoin ATMs in North America. The Bitcoin ATMs allow users to buy and sell digital assets, without setting up an account with an exchange. In February, the UGA Alumni Association recognized Mintz and Bitcoin Depot as the No. 1 business. The Bulldog 100 companies were ranked, regardless of size, based on their three-year compounded annual growth rates.

David Fershteyn (BBA '17), co-founder of Altera Investments, was named to the Atlanta 30 Under 30 Local Class of 2023. This list spotlights the young people reshaping the worlds of tech, finance, entertainment and more in Atlanta. Altera Investments invests in under-the-radar, lower-middle market private equity, private credit and real asset strategies. Fershteyn worked as an investment banker in Silicon Valley before founding Altera in 2018. Altera manages $350 million of assets and the company has 600 investors.

Jonathan Newar (BBA '17), co-founder of Captain Experiences, was named to the Austin (Texas) 30 Under 30 Local Class of 2023. Austin is an innovation hub empowering the next generation, and Newar is creating opportunity in the fishing world. Frustrated by the lack of transparency in finding, vetting, booking, and paying for fishing trips, Newar and his co-founder Attison Barnes launched Captain Experiences - a platform that makes booking verified fishing guides easy. With more than 80,000 trip hours booked since its 2020 launch, Captain is the largest fishing trip booking platform in the U.S. The company has raised $4.6 million and plans to expand across all outdoor sports and geographies.

Forbes ranked Rasmussen Wealth Management as one of its top ten advisory firms in the sate of Georgia. Rasmussen Wealth Management has been recognized by Forbes on the national and state level for three consecutive years. Rasmussen Wealth Management founded by Andrew Rasmussen, celebrated its 13th anniversary. Rasmussen, a 2005 Finance graduate, founded the company to work individually with clients and help them build financial security. |

Young Alumni Board members Derek Hammock (BBA '15, MAcc '16) and Radhika Patel (BBA '15, MAcc '15) joined Terry College Alumni Relations in Athens on Tuesday, August 22, for the Back to Business event. Back to Business is the largest student organization recruitment event of the year. Hammock and Patel shared information about upcoming student and alumni workshops, Terry Talks and TerryConnect; the Terry College student and alumni networking group on LinkedIn. It is going to be a great school year, as students are eager to get involved and take advantage of all opportunities possible at the Terry College.

The August Alumni of the Day were Chase Harof, Alix Hanna, Chris Dooney, Riley McBay, and Jake Mathis. Harof graduated in 2022 with a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance and a BSEd in Sports Management. He is now a Large and Complex Client Manager at Willis Towers Watson. Hanna graduated in 2016 with a BBA in Real Estate. She is a Senior Analyst/ Junior Broker at Colliers International in Phoenix, Arizona. Dooney graduated in 2002 with a BBA in Marketing and International Business. He is the Senior Director of Corporate Development at Universal Health Services, Inc. McBay graduated in 2019 with a BBA in Management with an emphasis in Supply Chain. She is now the Senior Associate Category Manager — Dixie Cutlery at Georgia Pacific. Mathis graduated in 2013 with a BBA in Management. He is now the President of Southern Reins Logistics in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Each week, we feature an Alum of the Day, where alumni share their career, company, activities they enjoy in their downtime, favorite Georgia memories, and how they choose to give back to their community. In addition to highlighting successful alumni, the goal of the Alum of the Day series is to show current Terry students the types of career opportunities that exist and give them great contacts in their industry. during next month's Terry Third Thursday presentation. Marshall earned his bachelor's degree in Finance from the Terry College while playing for the Georgia Bulldogs. After being drafted and spending a few years in the National Football League with the team now known as the Washington Commanders, Marshall earned his MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, focusing on strategy and finance. During his last semester at Goizueta, he co-founded The Players’ Lounge with a group of former teammates. The platform, which allows college players to connect with fans and leverage the value of their name, image and likeness (NIL) rights, now finds itself at the center of the biggest shift in collegiate athletics in years. We hope you can make plans to join us, to learn more about Marshall and The Players' Lounge.
