Alumni Board members meet in Atlanta for the spring board meeting.

Longtime faculty member, scholar, and academic leader Dr. Santanu Chatterjee has been named the college’s 13th dean, following a national search. A member of the Terry faculty since 2001 and holder of the Dr. Harold A. Black Distinguished Professorship of Economics, Chatterjee has played a key role in shaping the college’s graduate programs and national reputation. As director of the Full-Time MBA program and later associate dean for graduate programs, he helped lead initiatives that strengthened Terry’s standing among the nation’s top public business schools and expanded innovative interdisciplinary and early-admission pathways for students. A celebrated educator, Chatterjee is also a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor, the University of Georgia’s highest teaching honor. Chatterjee will begin his appointment on April 1, 2026, succeeding Benjamin C. Ayers, who now serves as provost of the University of Georgia.

The Terry College community is deeply saddened by the loss of Lt. Col. Brandon A. Shah (MBA '18), a distinguished Army officer, educator, and valued member of our alumni family. Lt. Col. Shah dedicated his career to developing future Army officers, most recently serving as professor of military science at Old Dominion University, where he mentored ROTC cadets preparing for service. An accomplished aviator, he logged more than 1,200 flight hours, including over 600 in combat, earning numerous honors such as two Bronze Star Medals and the Air Medal with Valor. He also led the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade at Hunter Army Airfield. During his time at Terry, he pursued his Full-Time MBA, reflecting the same discipline, curiosity, and commitment to leadership that defined his military career. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, fellow soldiers, and all those he impacted. His legacy of service and leadership will endure.

The Terry College congratulates Amanda Free (BBA '06) being named President of Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Georgia. Prior to this appointment, she guided local operations for the organization’s commercial health benefits division, driving sales enablement and market growth strategy across teams statewide. In 2025, her leadership portfolio expanded to include oversight of individual and small group sales and account management—further aligning strategy, performance and service across business units. A dedicated Terry alumna, Free served on the Terry College Young Alumni Board from 2015–2019 and continues to be an active supporter of the college.

Thanks to a transformative $2 million gift from Wes Rogers (BBA '99, MBA '04), the Terry College will launch the Rogers Real Estate Investment Fund in fall 2026. As chairman and CEO of Landmark Properties, Inc., Rogers has led nearly $17 billion in investments, overseeing the development, acquisition and management of student and multifamily housing across the U.S. and UK. Under his direction, Landmark manages over $15 billion in assets spanning 115 communities and 72,000 beds. Landmark has been recognized as the nation’s top student housing developer for seven of the last eight years and is well known for its exceptional returns. This student-managed fund will give undergraduates the opportunity to manage real capital and gain hands-on experience in investing — bridging classroom learning with real-world application.

During spring break, 16 students from the Institute for Leadership Advancement (ILA) traveled to London for an immersive global leadership experience. Now in its second year, this trip continues to grow in impact—made possible by donor support that helps cover costs for students and ensures access to this opportunity. Thanks to the generosity of our community, more than $40,000 was raised to support travel, company visits, and cultural experiences. Throughout the week, students connected with professionals at KPMG, Raymond James UK, Artisan Partners, and Chick-fil-A, gaining firsthand insight into how leadership and business operate on a global stage. A highlight included time with Paul Shoukry (BBA '05, MAcc '05), an ILA alumnus whose continued support also powers the biannual Shoukry Leadership Speaker Series. Experiences like this expand classroom learning into the real world—challenging students to think globally, engage with industry leaders, and grow as future leaders. Thank you for making opportunities like this possible.

Each year, the Terry College of Business honors exceptional alumni for their significant achievements in the business world and their community. The 2026 honorees will be recognized at the annual Alumni Awards and Gala on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Distinguished Alumni Award

Laura Brightwell (BBA '89) spent 25 years with Coca-Cola Enterprises, retiring as senior vice president of public affairs and communications. A dedicated Terry supporter, she is an emeritus Alumni Board member, founding donor of the Terry Women’s Initiative, and serves on the board of Builders Insurance Group.

Scott Sink (BBA '84) has more than 40 years of experience in energy and insurance, including leadership roles at McGriff, where he led the firm’s energy division. He now serves as chairman of U.S. natural resources at Howden. A 2012 UGA Risk Management and Insurance Alumnus of the Year, he also holds the ARM designation.

Outstanding Young Alumni Award

Alex Hill (BBA '10) is senior director of investments at Icarus Alternative Investments. Previously a managing director and partner at Patterson Real Estate Advisory Group, he completed more than $2.8 billion in transactions. He is also a co-owner of Yonder Yoga, a growing studio brand across the Southeast.

On March 26, we’re Calling All Dawgs for the University of Georgia’s Dawg Day of Giving! For 24 hours, we’re rallying Bulldogs around the world to celebrate and strengthen the university we love. We’re challenging you to answer the call, donate to any program at Terry, and show the world that nobody supports their school like the Bulldogs. 

The Terry Student Philanthropy Council plays a vital role in shaping a culture of giving within the Terry College of Business. Comprised of dedicated undergraduate students, the council works closely with the college’s development and alumni relations team to elevate awareness of philanthropy and its direct impact on the Terry experience. In recent years, the council has grown to nearly 30 members since its creation in 2022, a reflection of strong student interest and a shared commitment to service and leadership. Through peer-to-peer engagement, members help fellow students understand how private support enhances scholarships, academic programs, and opportunities for students, ensuring that today’s students become tomorrow’s engaged and loyal alumni donors.

A key example of their impact can be seen during Dawg Day of Giving, the university’s 24-hour fundraising event that calls on Bulldogs everywhere to support areas they care about most at the University. Each year, members of the Student Philanthropy Council take an active, visible role by hosting a table in the Business Learning Community (BLC), where they engage their peers in meaningful conversations about the importance of giving back. One of the most powerful messages they share is that every student who steps foot in the BLC is a direct beneficiary of philanthropy and generosity of Terry donors, regardless of their major or whether they receive a scholarship. By connecting these everyday experiences to the impact of giving, they inspire participation and help students see themselves as part of a larger tradition of support.

Through these efforts, the Student Philanthropy Council is building a lasting foundation of generosity at Terry. Their leadership during Dawg Day of Giving and throughout the academic year reinforces a powerful message: every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. By educating and empowering their peers today, these students are helping to sustain a tradition of philanthropy that will continue to strengthen the Terry community for generations to come.
