DeRetta Rhodes (BS '92, PhD '10) recently brought the insights she's learned in her 20+ year career in human resources to attendees of the Terry College's 12th annual Professional Women’s Conference (PWC). Rhodes joined the Atlanta Braves' front office in 2019 and currently serves as their Chief Culture Officer, a role with an expansive portfolio of responsibilities including oversight of people capital initiatives, community affairs, and communication. Throughout her extensive career, Rhodes has focused on how organizations can build a culture of trust and vulnerability as a way to optimize leadership and collaboration. She credits her UGA experience to helping develop her strong sense of community and urged PWC attendees to challenge the myths of vulnerability and to bring the use of strong emotional intelligence skills to their leadership mindset.

Supporting the Terry College of Business spans multiple generations in the Ghertner family. Andy Ghertner, a 1965 real estate graduate and vice chairman at Cushman & Wakefield, and his son Doug Ghertner
, a 2003 MBA graduate and CEO at IVX Health, both give back to the Terry College in numerous ways. Over the years, Andy has been a valued supporter of the annual Terry College Alumni Awards & Gala, and Doug has been a champion for the Terry College Endowment for Excellence. Together they both named the Andrew (Andy) L. Ghertner and Douglas (Doug) M. Ghertner Family Kitchen located in Correll Hall and accessible to graduate students in the Terry College of Business. Continuing the family tradition and honoring his father, Doug named the Andrew L. Ghertner Lobby located in Sanford and Barbara Orkin Hall within the Business Learning Community. We are grateful for the Ghertner’s dedication to the Terry College and always enjoy seeing a family’s mutual love for their university. Thank you, Andy and Doug!

Since 2019, the Ten for Terry initiative has given alumni the opportunity to make a modest monthly gift on a recurring basic. This affordable investment is magnified when many donors come together and participate in the program. In just four years, more than 1,000 donors have joined the Ten for Terry movement and now, Ten for Terry contributes more than $100,000 annually to the Terry Excellence Fund supporting scholarships, programs, student opportunities and more.
