HBTD! Our Dawgs are still undefeated, our game-watching parties continue to be a success and at this point in the season, you have prompted 2,000+ check-ins. Thank you for your diligent efforts to engage alumni during football season!
Last month our Executive Director, Meredith Gurley Johnson, accepted a new role with Horizons Atlanta. Her leadership at UGA has touched thousands of alumni and friends—she mentored countless students and trained even more volunteers in support of our university’s mission. We wish Meredith all the best as she embarks on her new journey.
In addition to Meredith’s departure, the university also is mid-search for a new vice president of development and alumni relations. These concurrent leadership openings not only place a bit more pressure on our team from a workload standpoint, but also offer us an opportunity to enhance our strategic planning to ensure it aligns with the vision of our future leadership team.
After some great conversations with our DAR and Alumni Board leaders, we are going to hold off on approving new Chapter events at this time. This brief hiatus will let us breathe a bit easier and focus on quality over quantity. But don’t worry: game-watching parties, holiday parties, and events that have already been submitted and approved will proceed!
We realize you might have some questions, so we’re hosting a pair of town halls this Monday, October 9 at 3 and 7 p.m. ET. We invite all of you to attend and we’d love for you to submit questions beforehand by emailing your liaison or alumnichapters@uga.edu.
We’re so proud to work with what we know is the No. 1 alumni volunteer network in the land; your commitment to your alma mater is unparalleled! We’re here to ensure that you—along with our 355,000+ alumni around the world—Never Bark Alone.
See y’all Monday and until then, have great game-watching parties this weekend! Go Dawgs!
