Image Puzzler

jellyfish

Diego Huet, assistant professor in the College of Pharmacy, photographed this Harris’s three-spot caterpillar at Sandy Creek. The head is to the left, where you can see three pairs of pointy legs. Huet described it as “a very weird-looking caterpillar, with white marking making it look like bird droppings.” Also, when it molts the caterpillar keeps its discarded head capsules and wears them as a towering series of hats, visible at right suspended by hairs. Read the full story. (Photo by Diego Huet).
