NEH: Humanities Initiatives at Colleges and Universities Amount: Up to $150,000
Deadline: May 7 Supports development or enhancement of new or existing programs, educational resources, or courses that explore, interpret, and preserve the diversity of human cultures, ideas, and practices, past and present. NEH: Research and Development Amount: $100,000-$350,000
Deadline: May 21
Supports projects that address major challenges in preserving or providing access to humanities collections and resources, including the need to find better ways to preserve cultural heritage materials—from fragile artifacts and manuscripts to analog recordings and digital assets subject to technological obsolescence—and to develop advanced modes of organizing, searching, discovering, and using such materials. NEH: Preservation and Access Education and Training Amount: Up to $350,000 Deadline: May 21 Supports education and training of professionals who preserve and provide access to humanities collections.
NEH: Digital Projects for the Public Amount: $30,000-$400,000 Deadline: June 12 Supports projects that interpret and analyze humanities content in primarily digital platforms and formats, such as websites, mobile applications and tours, interactive touch screens and kiosks, games, and virtual environments. |
Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant
Amount: $15,000-$50,000 Deadline: May 15
Supports contemporary visual arts writers. Grants will be awarded in three categories—articles, books, and short-form writing—in support of projects for general and specialized art audiences.
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Prize Amount: $250,000 Deadline: June 3
Recognizes projects and programs addressing structural racism and other injustice to advance health, opportunity, and equity for all. To be eligible, applications should represent a partnership of multiple unique organizations.
Simons Foundation 2024 Pilot Award Amount: $300,000-$500,000 Deadline: June 13 Supports exploratory ideas, particularly those with novel hypotheses, including those with higher risk but potential for transformative results, including work in human subjects. Particularly suitable for investigators new to the autism field, though they are encouraged to consult with experts in autism. |

| Jenna Jambeck named 2024 SEC Professor of the Year
Jenna Jambeck, Georgia Athletic Association Distinguished Professor of Environmental Engineering, was named the 2024 SEC Professor of the Year for her decades of work investigating the global scale of plastic pollution and galvanizing efforts to address solid waste and marine debris.
Marshall Shepherd to receive AAG Presidential Achievement Award
Marshall Shepherd, Georgia Athletic Association Distinguished Professor of Geography, was named one of two 2024 Presidential Achievement Award winners by the American Association of Geographers (AAG). The award recognizes individuals who have made longstanding and distinguished contributions to the discipline of geography. |

Research Live: Beyond the PI’s Grant: Alternative Models for Funding and Training Postdocs Tuesday, May 7

Postdoctoral scholars have a major impact on research productivity and innovation. Their future success has a big impact on UGA’s research reputation. The majority of UGA postdocs are funded exclusively by their faculty mentor’s grants, which can limit recruiting options and the scope of training. This webinar will explore recent examples of unit-centered, institutional, and federal agency models to provide funding and professional development for this important group of researchers. OACU announces new signage to indicate animal use in shared lab spaces
The Office of Animal Care and Use has (OACU) created new signage to indicate potential animal use areas in shared lab spaces. This signage will be posted at the entry of shared lab spaces in which any live animal work occurs. The signage alerts entrants to the potential for laboratory animal allergens in the area and includes some basic information about these allergens. OACU will make these signs available via their website.
