Fall 2025 Newsletter

Message from the Desk of Aaron Meskin

Dear students, alumni, faculty, and friends of the department of philosophy,

The semester is coming to an end, and it’s been quite a successful one. We have increased our enrollments and added a significant number of new majors this semester, our minor in bioethics has started enrolling a significant number of students, and our new contemporary ethical issues course was taught for the first time. I’ve heard really good things about that class.

I’m particularly proud of how productive our graduate students have been over the past few months. See below for an article about all their publications and presentations. They do all that while working hard as graduate teaching assistants. It’s impressive!

Nancy Hines, our incredible administrative associate, will be leaving us at the end of the calendar. Nancy has done an amazing job for the department for the past 15 years (and 30 years at UGA), and she will be sorely missed.

Our department relies on the kindness and donations of the UGA philosophy community to make our achievements possible. Our strength is in your support; so please feel free to join us on campus for events, or if you would like to consider giving to our department, click here.

As always, we appreciate your interest in the department of philosophy. Please email me at Aaron.Meskin@uga.edu if you have any questions, want to share something about your time at UGA, or would like to arrange a day to visit. Have a great holiday season. And, as always, Go Dawgs!

Warmly,

Aaron Meskin
