Schnitzer Family Media Lawn dedicated

A dedication of the Schnitzer Family Media Lawn was held on Sept. 23.  Made possible by a generous donation from the Schnitzer family, celebrating Lauren Schnitzer (AB ’21), the renovated area features a landscaped outdoor amphitheater, a new ADA accessible pathway, increased wireless internet access, outlets for electronic devices and more.

Neil Landau (MFA ’18), an award-winning screenwriter, creative producer, author, and educator has been named Executive Director of the Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media. He brings years of academic experience to the job, including more than two decades as a screenwriting instructor at University of California, Los Angeles School of Theater, Film & Television, and several years as Assistant Dean of Special Projects and co-Director of the UCLA MFA Screenwriting program.  He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film/Television from UCLA.

 

The MFA Film program is a two-year intensive program teaching students directing, screenwriting, producing and other skills needed for creative careers in Georgia’s film industry.

Moni Basu, an award-winning journalist and author, has been named the director of the Master in Fine Arts in Narrative Nonfiction program and the Charlayne Hunter-Gault Distinguished Writer in Residence. 

 

She has been a distinguished professor of practice at the College since 2015, serving as a visiting writer and mentor in the nonfiction MFA program launched by the late Valerie Boyd. She will begin her new role in January 2023 after serving as the Michael and Linda Connelly Lecturer in Narrative Nonfiction at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications.
