Nominate an outstanding graduate today

 

The deadline to nominate outstanding alumni for the 2025 Alumni Awards is Tuesday, Dec. 31.  

Four awards are presented each year to successful alumni who have made significant contributions to their professions since leaving UGA.

The  John Holliman Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award honors sustained contributions to the profession throughout a career.

The Professional Excellence award honors a graduate who has been influential in his or her field.

The John E. Drewry Young Alumni Award recognizes a graduate of the last decade who has experienced a successful early career.

The Distinguished Scholar Award honors a graduate for excellence and sustained contributions to scholarship in journalism and mass communication education.

The 2025 Alumni Award winners will be honored at Salutes: a celebration of achievement, commitment and leadership on Friday, April 25 on campus.

Crisis Communication Think Tank (CCTT) launches international programs

Earlier this fall, our Crisis Communication Think Tank (CCTT) launched its inaugural international programs in the Netherlands. 

A team of CCTT U.S. members and partners led a crisis readiness executive workshop in Rotterdam on Sept. 19 in a collaboration between the University of Georgia and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

A group of members and core partners from the U.S. headquarters and international members from Europe and Asia gathered at the University of Amsterdam on Sept. 23 for the inaugural CCTT annual international meeting, bringing this year’s theme, READINESS, across the Atlantic and tying global perspectives into an elevated conversation around advancing communication management for a world of more complex conflict, risk and crisis.

 MFA Film program gains national recognition  

Our Master of Fine Arts in Film, Television and Digital Media was recently named to the list of Top 50 Film Schools across the country by The Wrap, a leading publication in the media and entertainment industry.  

The UGA MFA Film Program launched in 2020 and combines the programs of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and Grady.

The Top 50 Film Schools were determined based on information submitted by each school, highlighting a spectrum of information including course quality, student body diversity, class size, scholarships, networking opportunities, alumni success and more.
