The University of Georgia will welcome its newest alumni on May 9 and 10 as 6,627 undergraduates and 1,691 graduate students—a total of 8,318—have met requirements to participate in the university’s spring Commencement ceremonies. Franklin College departments and schools will host a number of individual ceremonies.

Riley Forrestall

Research

 

University of Georgia undergraduate students came together to showcase their individual research projects and achievements on April 8-9 at the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities (CURO) Symposium.

 

Riley Forrestall (above)  is a third-year student studying ecology and plant biology. For his second year presenting at CURO, Forrestall focused on the role of hover flies in pollinator communities

Allison Schmitt

Alumni News

 

Four-time Olympian and 10-time Olympic medalist in swimming Allison Schmitt will deliver the spring undergraduate Commencement address at UGA on Friday, May 10. Schmitt, who received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from UGA in 1998, was elected captain by her teammates at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games. She is still the current American record holder in the 200 meter freestyle, which she has held since 2009.
