With 1L midterms behind us and exams looming, things are getting a little spooky around the law school …
In all seriousness, it was wonderful seeing so many of you at our annual Homecoming gathering. Also in October, we hosted our inaugural Corporate Counsel Law Dawg event (sponsored by Alston & Bird), and I enjoyed meeting with jurists serving on the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia as well as discussing artificial intelligence and the practice of law at the Atlanta Office Managing Partner Forum. These kinds of gatherings are key to keeping our UGA Law community connected and ensuring the School of Law is producing well-rounded graduates who are ready to contribute in their chosen professions when they leave Athens.
With November and Veterans Day on the horizon, be sure to look for the UGA article spotlighting the good work of our Veterans Legal Clinic. Since its establishment, the clinic has helped Georgia vets access over $16 million in retroactive awards, debts waived and future payments.
As the season of gratitude approaches, I want you to know how much I appreciate your continued support. Your efforts are helping your law school to redefine what it means to be a great national public law school and remain ranked among the nation’s Best Value Law Schools. Go Dawgs!
