Andrea Bruce named inaugural Knight Chair in Visual Journalism

Andrea Bruce, an internationally recognized and award-winning documentary photographer, publisher and educator, joins the college this semester as the Knight Chair in Visual Journalism.

Bruce’s photojournalism is most identified with her coverage of wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and other areas of conflict. Bruce is currently a photographer for the National Geographic Magazine and The New York Times, positions she has held for more than ten years. She spent nine years as a staff photographer for The Washington Post. Her studies and photography focus on themes of democracy, income inequality and rural communities.

Students explore future through Summer Media Academy

Nearly 70 middle and high school students from around the country explored Grady College majors firsthand during the Summer Media Academy in June.

Four programs were hosted, focusing on entertainment and media studies, advertising and public relations, multimedia journalism and broadcast news.

We are proud to have two alumni on the 2025 UGA Alumni Association 40 under 40 list. Darren Anglin (ABJ '16) is global human resources director for Johnson Controls and Macy Sirmans Holmes (ABJ '13) is travel and home marketing director for Condé Nast.
