Fall event recap, spring event update, and stories from campus!

Georgia Women Give

Georgia Women Give

Happy New Year! I hope you have had a wonderful holiday season. I am excited for what 2025 holds for Georgia Women Give.

This fall, our Georgia Women Give donors and their guests had a fantastic time at the State Botanical Garden and its Porcelain and Decorative Arts Museum. Seeing what Deen Day Sanders created through that museum provided a great reminder of the tangible impact our giving can make at UGA. Check out photos from the event here!

And now, we turn our attention in this new year to hosting our third spring event on March 20 and 21. This event really is our crown jewel — an immersive gathering that lets Georgia Women Give donors experience UGA in interesting ways, see the difference they’re making on campus, and get to know their fellow donors better.

One Big Question

It’s a new year, so we’ve got a question about new things. When was the last time you tried something new, and what was it?

Stories from Campus

  • Graduate School honors six outstanding alumni
    • Among the alumni recognized was Inez Tennenbaum, a Georgia Women Give founder!
  • Assistant professor finds a role in the classroom and on movie sets
    • Lauren Musgrove is an assistant professor in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and a co-founder of Purple Magnet Productions, a woman-owned production studio.
  • Kyndra Higgins, winner of the Fall ’24 Three Minute Thesis
    • Higgins, a doctoral candidate in the College of Engineering, received top marks for her presentation on breast cancer.
  • Donors grow UGA need-based scholarships to 1,000
    • “What our donors have done for those students is literally life-changing, and the effects extend to the students’ families and communities,” said Jill Walton, GWG founder and UGA vice president for development and alumni relations.

One last thing: in the early days of Georgia Women Give, many of our donors and friends participated in our partnership with the UGA Student Government Association Professional Clothing Closet by donating professional clothing items. The closet is a wonderful resource for students, and you can help them by buying items from their Amazon wishlist or by donating to support their operational needs.

I hope you will consider joining us and making a commitment to Georgia Women Give. It’s an exceptional group of women who are collectively making a difference for UGA.

Go Dawgs!
