Part of what defines the University of Georgia community is our time-honored tradition of excellence in teaching and learning, research and innovation, and service and outreach. These achievements are made possible by our ongoing commitment to fostering an environment of care, inclusivity and respect throughout campus. The Office of Inclusive Excellence works collaboratively with university leaders to enhance student success and student experience across campus. We are intentional in advancing UGA’s mission and further establishing this university as a place where students from every corner of our state can lead, discover and serve.
The stories below highlight UGA’s legacy of growth. This semester, we dedicated and reopened the renovated Holmes-Hunter Academic Building. Named in honor of the first African American students to attend UGA, this building reminds us of our history and the importance of positive change. Also featured is the welcome news that UGA received the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award for the 11th consecutive year. This recognition speaks to the successful impact of numerous award-wining programs and initiatives designed to promote and enhance inclusivity on campus.
Our university community is made stronger by the richness in experience, identity and culture that each of us brings to the table. May the stories below provide insight into a few of the ways that UGA faculty, staff and students are fulfilling our mission and taking on the future. As the birthplace of public higher education in America, UGA was founded on the principle that education is vital to improving our society. It is an honor to serve alongside each of you as we continue to foster the next generation of leaders, increase opportunities and cultivate growth in our communities.
