As another school year has ended, I want to extend my thanks to all of you who make the Institute for Leadership Advancement (ILA) a premier leadership program. Without your support, ILA would not be able to continue to develop the next generation of leaders! A special thank you to all of you who donated your time, talent and treasure —this year’s honor roll.
This was a very exciting year in ILA. Thanks to the generosity of Chick-fil-A, ILA began offering alumni programming by welcoming our first class of Leadership Dawgs. Please see below for more information about this program as well as ways you can be involved. We also doubled the size of our Leadership Fellows program, increasing the students we touch and the impact on our community through our service-learning initiatives.
We are so grateful to the amazing speakers who came to campus to talk about their leadership experiences and give powerful advice. As always, please reach out if we can be of service to you or if you would like to find ways to be more involved. Thank you, Dr. Laura Little Synovus Director, Institute for Leadership Advancement |

A LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR UGA ALUMNI |
|
|
Last fall, we shared the plans that resulted from Chick-Fil-A’s $10 million gift to enhance the Institute for Leadership Advancement (ILA). We’ve been putting those plans into action over the previous seven months.
A core component was to host a professional development symposium, offering leadership development to working professionals – and thus, Leadership Dawgs was born. The inaugural meeting kicked off on February 25, 2022. Chick-Fil-A CEO Andrew Cathy presented the keynote address to inspire the cohort and speak to crucible moments in his personal leadership journey. Almost 50 participants attended and dedicated their weekend to becoming values-based, impact-driven leaders.
You may have heard chatter about the program, as we asked for nominations from your network to ensure we chose a stellar group for the first class. The program engages participants in personalized leadership development – offering some of the same exercises and insights offered to our on-campus students. These exercises challenge participants to take a reflective approach to assess, define and enhance their ability to lead teams and organizations.

Also like our on-campus students, Leadership Dawgs apply what they learned by working in groups to complete one-year community-impact projects (CIPs). These CIPS support the needs of nine Atlanta and Athens-based nonprofits. Participants will return to the second meeting in March 2023 to present their final projects. Winning groups have the potential to win up to $10,000 to gift to their nonprofit partner.
Please let us know if you would like to recommend organizations for us to support. |

The junior Leonard Leadership Scholars (LLS '23) will use the summer to remain engaged with their client contacts. Upon returning to Athens in the fall, they will continue to fine tune their final deliverables to present to their clients in December. |

Also we launched 12 new SLPs with our 2022 Spring-Fellows. The Spring-Fellows will continue work in these groups throughout the summer and present their final deliverables in December. |
