Fundraising Update

Alumni Participation Rate (APR)

APR is tracking slightly behind FY23 due to the lack of a national championship campaign, however Q3 is a busy quarter for APR with Dawg Day of Giving, Senior Signature and the Hartman Fund deadline. Senior Signature donors are tracking ahead year-over-year which is great news for APR donors. Questions? Email Heather Duiser.

Overall Fundraising Totals

Below you will find our fundraising total for the fiscal year. We are at 84 new endowed scholarships in FY24 (our goal is 100), and we are at 372 total faculty endowments on campus (our goal is 400). Questions? Email Jeremy Ransom.

Revenue Committed: As of Week 34

UGA Artificial Intelligence Content Guidelines

MARCOMM recognizes the potential for AI tools to change the way we work to tell the UGA story. However, as industry experts have pointed out, these tools work best to support content creation, not as a substitute for human-driven creative work. With that in mind, MARCOMM has drafted guidelines for how staff can approach working with AI. The information will adjust as technology advances.

Read the policy as it relates to stories/editorial, idea generation/brainstorming, research analytics, and image generation.

Lead at 3

Record Weekend for Parents Leadership Council

Parents Leadership Council

Congrats to the Parent Giving team for hosting an incredible Parents Leadership Council Weekend February 9-10. The weekend included the PLC Grants Committee Meeting where committee members voted to award over $1.1 million to 162 UGA campus organizations, including to the President's Venture Fund and the Sunshine Fund (more details below). On Saturday, they saw record attendance (275+) at the evening reception hosted by President Morehead. Questions? Email Brittany Rider.

UGA Journeys

All DAR employees are strongly encouraged to enroll in “UGA Journeys: Understanding Your Connection to the Staff Competency” via the Professional Educational Portal (PEP). This workshop will provide staff leadership development, an opportunity to complete the Gallup CliftonStrengths Assessment, explore how they uniquely contribute to and work with their team, and build a foundation for greater understanding of the UGA Staff Competency.

All DAR supervisors should also enroll in UGA Journeys:  Performance Management Best Practices for Supervisors via the Professional Educational Portal (PEP). As a part of UGA Journeys, this seminar provides supervisors with the tools to elevate their teams' performance through feedback and performance evaluation. All supervisors should also enroll in “UGA Journeys: Understanding Your Connection to the Staff Competency” and “UGA Journeys:  Performance Management Best Practices for Supervisors.”

If you have questions, please contact Michelle Carter or Scarlett Hart.

? Ring the Bell ?

Here are a few recent success stories from the fundraising world; thank you to all fundraisers and those who support them for an outstanding year so far!

PLC Grants Committee
PLC Members and DAR Staff

This past weekend, after allocating $1.1 million to student-serving organizations and $75k to the President’s Venture Fund, the PLC voted to allocate an additional $31k to the Venture Fund and $31k for immediate use to the Sunshine Fund spendable account. Then, the Krase family (who started the Sunshine Fund) generously offered a $31k match to the Sunshine Fund! Now, Carrie Smith and her team have $62k in immediate spendable dollars to support Sunshine Fund requests.

Pictured above (left) are parents voting to award dollars to the Venture Fund and the Sunshine Fund and (right) Tonya Moore and Eric Schmidt with the Grants Committee co-chairs. Kudos to Alysse Capitanelli on her outstanding work engaging the Krase family.

Chris Jefts
Jeremy Headrick

$250k for School of Law

Earlier this month, Chris Jefts (left) partnered with the School of Law's Jeremy Headrick (right) to close a $250k gift with a long-time contact in Rome, Georgia. Kudos, Chris and Jeremy!

Back-to-Back Planned Gifts

Congrats to Brandon Cochran, Terry College principal gifts officer, on closing two 7-figure planned gifts in a one-week period. One of the gifts stemmed back to a pair of donors who were inspired to establish a Georgia Commitment Scholarship thanks to a story in Georgia Magazine. Face-to-face interactions with their scholarship recipients and other student groups inspired the couple to now continue their support by including UGA in their estate plans. Kudos to Brandon and the Office of Gift and Estate Planning.
