In Full Bloom: Scott Shepherd |
Scott Shepherd (BSA - ’91) transformed his lifelong passion for plants and flowers into The Flower Podcast, now one of the top floral‑industry podcasts in the U.S.
Growing up fascinated by gardening, he immersed himself early in cultivating plants — from planting his first tree at age 10 to amassing a collection of 400 African violets as a teenager. His deep industry experience, built over three decades in the cut‑flower world, shapes the podcast’s conversations with florists, growers, designers, and floral entrepreneurs.

When Art Meets Science: Mariah Yori |
Mariah Yori (BSA - ’13) works in the Department of Animal and Dairy Science and is simultaneously pursuing a degree in scientific illustration through the Lamar Dodd School of Art.
Mariah exemplifies the next generation of scientific illustrators who bridge the gap between technical scientific knowledge and artistic communication. She describes how broad and interdisciplinary the field is as, “almost hard to explain because it’s so all‑encompassing," and illustrates the program’s culture of students united by deep curiosity about both science and art. |

Please consider supporting the CAES Student Emergency Fund on Dawg Day of Giving. When unexpected emergencies threaten a student’s education, the CAES Student Emergency Fund acts as a safety net. Last fall alone, nine CAES students received support to cover urgent needs including medical, dental, and living expenses as well as computer repair.
