2024 CAES Almanac

The Almanac is published annually for alumni, friends and supporters of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences as an opportunity to celebrate the balance and breadth of expertise that CAES provides. In homage to the iconic Old Farmer's Almanac, these pages are a window into the work being done at CAES to make the world increasingly healthy, equitable, and sustainable.

Ag Dawg After Hours: Ellijay

Picture it: Unwinding with a glass of your favorite wine surrounded by fellow #AgDawgs at Cartecay Vineyards in lovely Ellijay, Georgia on a crisp October evening in the fall. Sound too good to be true? Well, it is happening!

 

We are excited to announce the next Ag Dawg After Hours will take place at #AgDawg owned Cartecay Vineyards in Ellijay, GA on Friday, October 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Fall 2024 Intros and Appetizers

Mark your calendar! Fall Intros and Appetizers will take place at Studio 225 on Tuesday, October 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

 

If you are an Alumni or industry partner who is interested in helping CAES students by sharing your professional experiences, please join us for Intros and Appetizers! 40-under-40

Congratulations to Chris Chammoun (BSA '08) and Tiffany Woods (BSES '08) on being honored as members of the 2024 class of UGA's 40 Under 40! Chris is the Executive Director of the American Peanut Shellers Association, President of the Peanut Institute and a great example of how passion meets purpose. Tiffany is a Senior Director at the National Wildlife Federation and a great example of how passion meets purpose. Go Ag Dawgs!

 

The 40 Under 40 program celebrates the personal, professional and philanthropic achievements of successful UGA graduates under the age of 40. 

Ty Brooks, UGArden farm director

Check out the latest Cultivating Curiosity podcast featuring Ty Brooks (MAEE '17), farm director at UGArden, UGA's student community farm. Ty shares his journey and insights into the daily operations of UGArden, a unique space dedicated to research, teaching and outreach. 

 

UGArden recently received a $10,000 grant from Kubota. Through August 14, you can vote and help UGArden raise up $50,000. 

Support CAES Students

On July 10, 2024, the University of Georgia Foundation announced it is allocating $5 million in surplus and undesignated funds to the University in FY25 for matching funds. Gifts of $50,0000 and above, payable up to five years, made to the Rural Scholars Program are eligible for a $50,000 match. In addition, your gift can support an existing endowment. Matching opportunities are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
