Interested in being a student gallery teacher at the Georgia Museum of Art? Second- and third-year undergraduate students and graduate students in all majors at the University of Georgia train as museum educators in this new year-long paid program.

Student gallery teachers are important members of the museum’s teaching team. In training sessions led by museum staff, they learn about the museum, its collection and its exhibitions as well as different approaches to gallery teaching. Then they work alongside museum staff and community docents to lead interactive and engaging tours for pre-K – 12 school groups. Student gallery teachers also assist with other museum programs that serve youth and family audiences.

Through workshops, field trips, behind-the-scenes tours and regular training sessions, student gallery teachers develop valuable teaching, research and program evaluation skills. They also learn about art and object-based teaching and gain valuable experience working in a museum setting.

This is a year-long, paid opportunity of approximately 5 to 10 hours per week. Undergraduates will make $13.50 an hour and graduate students $16 an hour. The position is also Federal Work-Study eligible and meets the requirements for the Museum Studies Certificate internship course. You must apply by July 15.
