Join us for the 2023 Homecoming BBQ!

As we look forward to welcoming hundreds of you back to campus for the annual Homecoming BBQ on November 4, I wanted to take the opportunity to share several recent milestones your law school has achieved over the past year:

  • Top-20 U.S. News & World Report ranking (our highest ever)
  • #1 Best Value Law School (we have led these rankings 4 of the last 6 years)
  • #4 Employment Rate for full-time, long-term, bar-pass required jobs (Class of 2022)
  • Almost 99% Ultimate Bar Passage Rate (Class of 2020)
  • Highest first-time Georgia bar exam passage rate for the 10th consecutive year

As the University of Georgia School of Law seeks to redefine what it means to be a great national public law school by providing the best return on investment in legal education, we are especially proud that we have the lowest tuition among the Top-20 U.S. News law schools, our student borrowing has declined by more than 50% over the past decade and 100% of enrolled first-gen college graduates and veterans receive scholarship aid.

We hope these significant achievements give you a tremendous sense of pride as they would not have been possible without your continued support. We look forward to seeing you on Herty Field on November 4! The BBQ will start at noon. Please be sure to register by 10/27 to join us for one of the law school’s largest events of the year!

And, as you make your way down the hill to watch the Bulldogs take on the Missouri Tigers in Sanford Stadium, be sure to stop by the recently named James E. Butler Courtyard on the western side of Dean Rusk Hall. Jim, who is a 1977 alumnus, has been a steadfast supporter of the law school for many years, including his leadership gift for the Veterans Legal Clinic, his support of the Butler Commitment that guarantees 100% of veterans receive aid and his recent significant contribution to the fund honoring the late Georgia Speaker of the House David Ralston, which supports scholarships and fellowships.

Jim Butler (J.D.'77)

I look forward to seeing you soon and Go Dawgs!!

Dean and Talmadge Chair of Law
