Unsung Heroes The University of Georgia would like to thank some of its outstanding staff members who have played an essential role in keeping UGA running smoothly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each week, we will profile a staff member who has gone to extraordinary lengths to support our teaching, research and public service mission during this challenging time. Our first two heroes are Ronald Bernard, a front line cook in the University of Georgia’s Savannah Room, and Lindsay Coco, assistant director for initiatives in the University of Georgia’s Division of Academic Enhancement where she works with students from low income families, first generation students and rural students.

Campus Operations Sign Up for Surveillance Testing – Get Free Stuff! Visit the surveillance testing portal via the University Health Center’s website to schedule an appointment for asymptomatic testing at Legion Field. With our increased capacity, we are often able to accommodate same day appointments. In cases where there is same-day availability, Legion Field staff will accept walk-up appointments. Individuals will need to register onsite, but the likelihood is that they will be accommodated.
***Last week, participants received a free BOGO card for Jittery Joe’s, and participants can now enjoy free Starbucks hot and iced coffee in line at the Legion field site. This week, participants are receiving Chick-fil-A coupon cards, and next week participants will receive a $5 “Be Our Guest” coupon for UGA Dining Services retail locations. Stay tuned for updates on giveaways for future weeks, including specially designed masks and t-shirts, courtesy of the President’s Venture Fund! Remember to Check your Symptoms Before Coming to Campus Find Library Books or Request Pickup A new tool on the UGA libraries’ website helps people retrieve books while social distancing.
Cook’s Holiday Every year, Dining Services looks forward to coming together with the campus community to enjoy festive food, music and decorations at the annual Cook’s Holiday event. In order to focus on recommended safety guidelines and to ensure meal plan service for students who rely on our dining facilities, we believe not holding this year’s event is the best decision for our campus community. This will be the first time in over 30 years that Cook’s Holiday will not be held, and we know this will disappoint many people. This was an incredibly difficult decision but one that we hope you understand.
