Increased capacity of COVID-19 surveillance testing

UGA is now conducting 450 tests per weekday—up from 360—on asymptomatic students, faculty and staff through its surveillance testing program. Appointments are available from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. each weekday and may be scheduled by contacting the University Health Center.

Surveillance testing is provided to those who are not reporting symptoms of the virus. Students who are symptomatic should contact the University Health Center for COVID-19 testing, while faculty and staff should contact their local health care provider, go to one of the many testing sites offered by the Georgia Department of Public Health, or seek a test at a commercial site (e.g., pharmacy, urgent care center, etc.). Any positive COVID-19 test must be reported to the university through the DawgCheck notification tool.

Weekly results of UGA’s testing programs, as well as positive tests reported through other sources, are reported to the campus community at the University Health Center website.

Decoded: How Do I Self-monitor for Symptoms?

Self-monitoring: UGA students, faculty and staff are required to self-assess (check for symptoms) for COVID-19 every day before coming to campus as outlined in the return to campus modules.

  • DawgCheck is a tool to help you check your symptoms and provide guidance to support your health and safety as well as the health and safety of the UGA community. For this reason, we strongly encourage the daily use of DawgCheck’s symptom checker. Please note that faculty, staff and students are required to report a positive COVID-19 test through DawgCheck’s test reporting function.

More Dining Options Coming to Campus

In addition to the current meal plan Quick Stop locations, two Quick Markets are coming to campus and will provide a wider variety of grab-and-go menu options from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday – Friday. The Quick Markets will be set up near Creswell and Boggs Halls as well as on East Campus next to Busbee Hall. Currently, these locations will accept all access and block meal plans, including faculty and staff meal plans. Dining Services is evaluating the feasibility of accepting other forms of payment in the future.

Dining Services has also partnered with local food trucks to bring additional dining options to campus:

  • The Chick-fil-a food truck will serve chicken sandwiches, waffles fries and more near Joe Frank Harris from 4 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 10.
  • Nedza’s food truck will also serve ice cream, donuts and more at Reed Plaza from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Wednesday – Friday, Sept. 9 – 11.
  • Meals can be purchased using Paw Points, Bulldog Bucks, cash, credit and debit. While the food trucks accept Paw Points held by some meal plan participants, they do not accept All-Access or Block swipes.

A Faculty and Staff meal plan is available to full-time, benefit-eligible faculty and staff members. This 10-block plan allows participants to have 10 meals from any of the five dining commons for only $9.40 per meal plus tax. Additional blocks can be purchased in 10-block increments at any time. Block plans do not expire and are non-refundable.
