UGA Campus Update
Fall 2021 Campus Update
COVID-19 Testing for Holiday Travel If you are traveling this holiday season where official documentation of testing is not required, plan ahead and get free asymptomatic testing at UHC. Please note: asymptomatic test result print outs do not meet the requirements for airline travel/clearance.
UHC does offer travel clinic consults and testing for a fee but individuals are not guaranteed same or next day appointments, so it is best to plan early. The Travel Clinic does provide appropriate and acceptable documentation that meets travel requirements for international travel. There is a fee for the visit and charges depend on what is ordered.
In addition, UHC’s lab offers same-day testing for $100. Results are sent via email.
Pop-up COVID-19 Testing Ahead of Holiday Break The UGA College of Public Health, in partnership with the UHC, will offer pop-up COVID-19 testing at the Tate Center ahead of Winter Break. Walk-up testing will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 20. No appointments are necessary for these services.
Call to Schedule Vaccines and Boosters at UHC Beginning Jan. 4, 2022, faculty and staff who would like to schedule a COVID vaccine appointment at the University Health Center may do so by calling 706-542-5575. Students may continue to schedule their COVID vaccine appointments online through the Patient Portal.
Also beginning Jan. 4, the UHC will only offer Pfizer vaccines for first, second and booster doses.
All adults ages 18 and up should receive a single booster dose six months after the completion of the primary series. Any of the COVID-19 vaccines can be used for booster vaccination, regardless of the product used for the primary vaccination. Persons who received a single dose Janssen (Johnson and Johnson) primary series should receive a single COVID-19 booster dose (Pfizer, Moderna or Janssen) at least two months after receiving their primary Janssen vaccine.
In addition, the CDC recommends an additional primary dose of Moderna or Pfizer at least 28 days after the completion of the primary series in individuals who have moderate to severe immunocompromising conditions and treatments including, but not limited to:
NOTE: Individuals who feel they meet these requirements should discuss their medical history with their primary healthcare provider to determine if they need an additional dose 28 days after the completion of their primary vaccine series.
Providers offering Moderna or J&J (Janssen) can be found here.

Departments that are interested in having masks on hand can order them at no cost through UGAmart. Orders will be limited to the number of employees in the department or unit. Instructions for ordering face coverings can be found here.
Any students who want cloth face coverings can pick them up at no cost at Information Desks in the Tate Student Center and the Miller Learning Center.

A total of 22 cases were reported for the week of Dec. 6 – Dec. 12. This week’s figure also marks a 96% decrease from the peak of cases reported around Labor Day. The University Health Center (UHC) posted the data as part of the weekly update on its website Wednesday morning. Of the 22 cases reported in DawgCheck, 19 were students and three were staff members. There were no cases reported among members of the faculty.
The positivity rate for UGA’s surveillance testing remains low, with three of 375 asymptomatic individuals testing positive for a rate of 0.8%. The UHC can test up to 800 individuals a day, and this service is offered free to the campus community.
